2008 CBC Literary Awards

On February 26 I was thrilled to learn that my Invertebrate Poems had won a 2008 CBC Literary Award (2nd prize, poetry catagory). The poems will be available as a podcast on March 4 and published in the June 2009 issue of enRoute Magazine. The judges (Tim Lilburn, Roy Miki and Priscila Uppal) made the following comments:

“In Invertebrate Poems a lively, unpredictable consciousness takes us, line by line, through an intellectual archeology. From the little dipper, to the Beijing Olympics, to your pancreas, this is a journey of variety: of voice, subject, place, structure, and language. You will be surprised, at every corner, where you end up!”

The gala experience was wonderful, and I would like to extend big thank-yous to Meredith Dellandrea, Alia Quart Khan, Shelagh Rogers and all the winners. I’ll post related media here as it comes.
