Jim Johnstone is a Toronto-based writer and physiologist. He is the author of three books of poetry: Sunday, the locusts (Tightrope Books, 2011), Patternicity (Nightwood Editions, 2010) and The Velocity of Escape (Guernica Editions, 2008). Poems from Patternicity received Arc Poetry Magazine’s 2009 Readers’ Choice Award, a 2008 CBC Literary Award and the EJ Pratt Medal and Prize in Poetry, and “Disgraceland” appeared in Tightrope Books 2010 Best Canadian Poetry in English anthology. Currently he operates Cactus Press, a chapbook imprint he co-founded with Devon Gallant in 2008.
